DBICA is a non profit Media and Communications organization, with the vision to promote media literacy and instil social consciousness and responsibility among the students and the masses through good quality films and to promote filmmakers. In pursuit of this vision, DBICA has successfully conducted a number of short film festivals for more than a decade and that has brought in lot of awareness on important issues, and created lot of networking for short film makers and brought visibility to the genre of short films.

Through all these festivals DBICA supports filmmaker’s by bestowing various certificates, mementos, cash awards, a platform to exhibit their productions, an opportunity to present their production and have meaningful interactions with Film Critics, Media Personalities, Film-Makers, Media Students, Film Theorists, Film Lovers and all those associated with the production and business of film.

DBICA today continues to exhibits the best shorts, documentaries and animations collection of the world’s short film cinema to thousands of people from all walks of life through the five annual short film festivals namely:

FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM OF DTSFF 2012

The 11th edition of the DBICA Tamil Short Film Festival is scheduled for 30th June, 2012, at DBICA Digital Theatres, Chennai.

The mission and objective of the DBICA Tamil Short Film Festival (DTSFF) is to nurture local talent, encouraging and promoting local short film makers and young media entrepreneurs to show case their works of art made in Tamil language, and provide them with a platform that offers them interaction, networking and greater visibility. The festival aims to foster Short films, which can become an alternative to main stream cinema, as it can powerfully and equally express ideas and tell stories that can be relevant and attractive.

This one day film festival exhibits a collection of short films, documentaries and animated films created by Independent and Student Film Makers to delegates like film-makers, media students, critics, film theorists, film lovers and all those associated with the production and business of film and members of the press in Chennai.

This festival is replicated in various cities.

FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM OF PSA 2012

The 8th edition of the Public Service Announcement festival is scheduled for 25th August 2012, at DBICA Digital Theatres, Chennai.

The mission and objective of the Public Service Announcement (PSA) Festival is to motivate young filmmakers and students to promote social consciousness, by creating PSA’s that can positively communicate to the society and stimulate them towards common good. The festival intends to raise awareness of various issues, solicit positive change in public behavior and potentially stimulate them towards common welfare.

This is one day film festival exhibits a collection of Public Service Advertisement films to delegates like film-makers, media students, critics, film theorists, film lovers and all those associated with the production and business of film and members of the press in Chennai.

FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM OF ISFFI 2013

The 7th edition of the International Short Film Festival of India is scheduled for February 2nd & 3rd 2013 at Abirami Theatres, Chennai.

The mission and objective of the International Short Film Festival of India [ISFFI] is to give short films an identity that differentiates this art form, from the conventional big screen. ISFFI showcases short films that celebrate diverse cultures, aesthetic traditions, social and relevant themes and other works that challenge and transcend expectations. Our particular interest is in short films that deal with novel themes, cutting‐edge technology and unusual visualization, traditional as well as those that dissent in form, technique or content from the mainstream.

This is two day film festival exhibits a collection of short films, documentaries and animated films created by Independent and Student Film Makers to delegates like film-makers, media students, critics, film theorists, film lovers and all those associated with the production and business of film and members of the press from India.

This festival also has Seminar/Workshop conducted on separate days to encourage young talent and is replicated in various cities.

FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM OF ICSFF 2012

The 5th edition of the International Children’s Short Film Festival is scheduled for 09th November, 2012 at Don Bosco Auditorium, Egmore, Chennai.

The mission and objective of the International Children’s Short Film Festival (ICSFF) is to introduce short films of various genres solely targeting the children and bring in lot of awareness concerning the situation of Children worldwide and Celebrate Childhood. The festival offers unique opportunities to bring together children and make them view short films that can elevate, motivate, educate and entertain and bring in lot of awareness regarding the issues that concern them.

This is one day film festival exhibits a collection of short films, documentaries and animated films created by Independent and Student Film Makers to more than 2000 Children from 100 schools in and around the city.

This festival has Seminars, Poetry and Drawing competitions for children and it is replicated in various cities.

We will be targeting more than 200 schools for these competitions and there will be around 10,000 school children participating in it. The Seminars having child speakers and adult moderators are conducted for English and Tamil medium schools separately to enable children to reflect critically and intelligently on media issues and find solutions for the problems revolving around them.

FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM OF CCSFF 2012

The 2nd edition of the Chennai Christian Short Film Festival is scheduled for 10th November 2012, at Don Bosco Auditorium, Chennai.

The mission and objective of the Chennai Christian Short Film Festival (CCSFF) is to promote films made on Christian faith and Christian film makers and bring to light the passion for Jesus Christ and spread the good news through the language of image and sound. CCSFF strives to bring into synergy all creative Christian energy, fostering networking and interaction among Christian media entrepreneurs and film makers, providing them a platform to showcase their works and offering them appropriate recognition for excellence in Christian Film Production.

This is one day film festival exhibits a collection of short films, documentaries and animated films created by Independent and Student Film Makers to delegates like Christians, people who love Christ, film-makers, media students, critics, film theorists, film lovers and all those associated with the production and business of film and members of the press in Chennai.
