The DBICA PSA Festival held at DBICA Theatre on 30th September 2011 was a thumping success with more than 45 participants from India. DBICA Theatre was packed with participants who could make it to the show.
This is an annual event where young film makers are invited to come forward with their works on public awareness. The objective of organizing this festival is to create social awareness and encourage young media entrepreneurs to inculcate social ethics while bringing out the best in their creations. Veteran film makers, editors and directors from the Media grazed the occasion.
Ms. A C Alathi – Public Relations Head welcomed the Chief Guest and participants. She spoke on the importance of PSA and its impact on the society at large. Our Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Stanley. The program commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp a significant act to dispel darkness and illuminate the occasion.
After the formal introductions the show began – 45 PSAs came up for screening and after each PSA the participants who were present came forward and spoke a few words on what inspired them to create such PSAs. A commendable number of PSA’s from National Institute of Design Ahmedabad were screened. Some of the PSAs screened were on female infanticide, helmet, Rebirth today, blood donation, go green etc.
The first prize was awarded for the PSA “Bitiya” by Nijo Jonson from New Delhi, a past student of NID Ahmedabad, the second prize was awarded for “Rebirth today” by Sundar Rajan and the third prize for “Donate Blood” by R Saravana Prabhu. The 3rd price winner was present and he was awarded with a cash prize and certificate. The first and second prize winners could not make it to the festival. All participants were given certificates. It was indeed an event to remember in the history of DBICA festivals.
Fr. Stalin spoke on the significance of participation and emphasized that the end result was not in winning but in the valuable contribution of the participants.
The chief guest Mr. Stanley concluded the event by speaking on DBICA and its significance in the world of impacting the youth in media. He also encouraged the participants and commended them on their creations.
