DBICA organized the Youth Theatre Festival 2005 on 4th, 5th and 6th March 2005. The aim of this festival was to portray social issues through short plays. Groups who specialize in theatre were invited to come and enact their plays under the open sky, on the grounds of SIGA. Groups came from Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Thirunelveli, Ethiraj College, Loyola college, AICUF, Basin Bridge Youth Centre and Government College of Arts & Commerce. The plays enacted by them portrayed themes like: Police atrocity, imperialism, drug addiction, superstitious beliefs, transgender, fascism, dalit rights and T.V. menace. Minimum props were used, with four floodlights and a minimum of 100 chairs. People were content to squat on the ground and enjoy the evening. Each play with its down-to-earth message and short and crisp ending kept the audience attentive right to the end. The festival came to a close on the evening of 6th March 2005.
