It`s Shorts Fest again at DBICA. The ninth edition of DSFF (DBICA Short Film Festival) is in the offing, and the festival is scheduled to be held at the DBICA Theatres on Saturday, 26th June 2010. This one day festival will feature 22 films, shortlisted from the 70 entries that came in for DSFF. The lineup includes various short films and documentaries from film makers from all over Tamil Nadu.
DSFF strives exclusively to savour local talent, encouraging and promoting local short film makers and young media entrepreneurs to show case their works of art, and provide them with a platform that offers them interaction, networking and greater visibility. “We can make a difference in the lives of these short film makers, and motivate them to move towards greater heights“, said Fr. Harris, the festival director, while talking about the utility of such festivals. He added that such festivals create lot of awareness among the audience and foster a deep sense of social responsibility in them, to create and produce that which can elevate, educate and also entertain.
After the first stage of screening, 22 shortlisted entries were viewed by an esteemed board of Jury, under the leadership of Director Lenin, with Director R.C. Alagappan, Ms. Irwin Mary, lecturer from WCC, Cameraman Richard Prasad and Editor Balu. The best ones will be awarded cash awards and certificates at the concluding programme on the day of the festival.
The guests of honour who will be crowning the festival will be Director Madhumita, Director Alagappan, Director Samuthirakani, Director Kathir, Director Lenin and Mr. Carmel from Makkal TV.
This year, the festival adds greater strength as it is patronized by LKS Gold House Pvt Ltd, T.Nagar. The one day festival is scheduled to commence at 09.30 a.m and conclude at 06.00 p.m. Several short film makers, students from media institutes and film lovers are expected to participate in the festival.
